Whew! This semester has flown by us. Sorry it's been so long since the last post, but this semester has been crazy. It has seemed so long, yet so short. Does that make sense? It does if you've been in anesthesia school!! We're all looking forward to our summer break. Which means only working 40 hours per week, but at least there are no exams to study for. Here's a look at some of the things we've been doing the past few months.
PALS Course
In February, we took a PALS certification course.
NAP Skills Lab
We took several hours one day and practiced our regional anesthesia techniques in the skills lab.
The Bachelor - Molly & Jason Get Married Party
Several of us are big fans of The Bachelor TV show. We know, we know, not something we should openly admit, but sadly it's true. Well it just so happened that this season a bachelor and bachelorette from a couple of seasons ago were getting married on TV and one of our very own classmates was one of the bridesmaids!! So we had to have a party of course! We all got together at Laura's house for some snacks and first hand commentating while we watched the wedding.
Dave came prepared, he had his own chair and all! Doesn't he look completely captivated by the show?? Okay, probably not. Were glad some of the guys were willing to come hang out and watch the show with us though. Sorry guys, hopefully it wasn't too painful!
Cadaver Lab
In March, we spent a day in the cadaver lab learning about spinals, epidurals, double lumen tubes and one lung ventilation, and peripheral nerve blocks. Due to sensitivity issues there are pictures that aren't being posted, but will be in our blog book.
Take me out to the ballpark....
One weekend in April, Laura had the great idea of going to a Winston Salem Dash baseball game together. Spouses and kids came too. What fun! We had a great time socializing and de-stressing. Laura even got us a great group rate with free hats included! Does it get any better than that?? Friends, fun, and free hats - probably not! Thanks Laura for planning it and thanks to everyone who came, it was a great time.
Adam and his cute family...
Last Baptist Class - YAY!!!
No offense Courtney and Dr. Rieker, we love your lectures, but what a milestone for us! We're growing up! We were all so excited to be done with our Monday lectures that we decided to have a potluck brunch. It turned out great. I think we all ate too much, but definitely enjoyed ourselves doing it.
While we were eating, Judge Courtney Brown conducted Care Plan Court. Look at that face, isn't she intimidating???
Sue presenting her case...
Bobby presenting his case...
... and Amy presenting hers. Everytime we see this face, we know there is going to be a good story behind it that will end with us cracking up. She keeps us laughing and is a great story teller. I just wish I would of had a camera the day she described how "The Hoff" receptor works to the class - HILARIOUS!!
Great job everyone! Another semester down (almost)!
