On August 21st we spent a day out at Piney Lake learning all about team work and getting to know each other. We also heard from a motivational speaker, Ken Leonard, who was very inspiring.
Using pictures to describe our feelings or thoughts about being in nurse anesthesia school. Putting teamwork to the test! Learning more about each other.... Jumping rope together. All 24 of us ran under the jump rope, without being hit by it, at the same time! Lindsey wanted us to actually try and jump rope together, but we didn't end up trying. Sorry Lindsey ~ maybe at graduation!! The dreaded "helium stick". This activity probably took us the longest and gave us the most frustration, but we conquered it! At the end of the day we were able to sit down with several of the seniors and get some invaluable advice.
H3A was our very first experience together. It was held July 9-11, 2009. It's purpose was to provide us with a brief exposure to the concepts and skills we would be learning over the coming two years. The general consensus among all of us was that it was worthwhile and definitely an anxiety reducer for our upcoming official first day.
During H3A we attended lectures.... learned about Mallampati.... and physical attributes of a difficult airway. We were given the opportunity to spend some time in the skills lab and cadaver lab. We also had the opportunity to begin our friendships.
We are 24 SRNA students, dedicated to helping each other through the adventure of nurse anesthesia school all while documenting our journey along the way!
