Capstone Presentations

Today is our last official day of class!!! Well, for all but three of us anyways. Our final exam is technically tomorrow, but 18 of us took it early. We just couldn't wait another day to say we are done, DONE with classes!!! Such exciting times!

This morning we all presented our capstone projects and posters that we have been SLAVING over ALL semester! Everyone did a great job and had interesting projects to present. Way to go everyone!

Adam, Amy, Kathryn, and Sue presented on colloid use in pediatrics. Dave was also in this group but is in Africa on a mission trip.

Kate, Lisa, and Meredith told us about warming devices used in the OR.
Drew, Carie, Jill, Alison, and Anne Marie discussed substance abuse.

Jaime, Lindsey, Anne, and Laura discussed the DNP in nurse anesthesia.

Bobby, LaShaunda, Matt, and Jim discussed ketamine use in chronic pain.
Somehow Amy got Adam to throw piles of money her way. Hmmmm...... Lovin it....

The newest, Master's prepared, soon to be CRNAs.......

Laura's so happy she just couldn't wait to get out of her skirt before doing her

traditional end of another semester heel kick!!!

After Party!

To celebrate our last class in nurse anesthesia school EVER, we went to 6th and Vine for dinner. We had quite a few laughs and a whole lot of realization that this journey is actually coming to an end. We've made it, we're now on the home stretch with 108 days left to go!

2011 Wellness Dinner

Carie Nunley put together the 2011 Wellness Dinner and enlisted the help of several of us classmates. Substance abuse amongst anesthesia providers was the topic discussed. We heard from two CRNAs who are recovering substance abusers. We all invited a friend or family member to attend the dinner with us as they are often the first to notice signs of abuse. It was a great evening, thanks for all your hard work Carie!!

Dominican Republic Mission Trip

Sue and Jaime went to the DR with CRNAs, Terry Wellman and Shira Friend, thru Solid Rock Missions. This is the same group that Lindsey and Adam went with. What an amazing experience! There were 74 surgeries in 4 days, WOW was it a busy several days. Mostly T&A's, but some general surgery mixed in there as well.

Our "Ploss Cart"

Sue performed this ankle block completely on her own and without any hesitation - Go Sue!

Sue is prepping for her day in the OR with a little OFF mosquito spray....
On our last day in the OR, we all got a good laugh because when Sue grabbed a pair of scrubs off the shelf, we later found out that they had been left behind by Lindsey and Sue just happened to grab them. : )

A Surprise Visit From Agatha & Alex

For our afternoon class we were all given a part of nurse anesthesia history to discuss with the rest of the class. Laura and Dave got creative and dressed up for their parts as Agatha Hodgins and Alex Trebeck and made a game of jeopardy for us to play. It was the highlight of the afternoon and gave us all a good laugh!

GNO

Carie had a Girl's Night Out at her house and boy was it FUN!!! There was delicious food ~ Laura especially loved Carie's special smoky flavored taco soup. : ) Carie must have slaved away in the kitchen all day because besides the delish soup she also made a ton of cookies for us to decorate ~ so fun! Afterwards, we played Just Dance on the Wii and talk about a BLAST!! We have probably never laughed so hard in our lives, we were seriously cracking up! It was sooo much fun! Carie also made homeade hot cocoa ~ best hostess ever! Thanks for setting this up Carie, we had an amazing time!

Laura's SRNA cookie.

All of our hard work....

Anne is the funniest! She thought she was cutting the tips off of the frosting tubes, but she was really cutting of the tip of the caps!! We all got a good laugh out of that one, even Anne.

Playing Just Dance was obviously HILARIOUS!!

These funny girls were trying to pout their lips like on the game...

and then cracking up when they saw the picture of it!

Can You Believe It???

We just took the final exam for our 3rd semester!! It's over, already, and only one semester of UNCG left to go. Craziness! This is so exciting for us. We are definitely beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Plus, over half of the class already have jobs lined up. How great is that?! To celebrate the end of another semester we went out to lunch together at the First Street Draught House. Delicious & Fun! It was great to catch up with everyone, almost the entire class was there.
